TxP_R Technology for the Project_Research unit

 

Coordinator arch. Maria Antonietta Esposito, full professor of Design and Technological design architecture (08 - C1 includes the SDS: ICAR 10-11-12-13), currently serving in the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence as an associate professor in Architectural Technology (ICAR/12).

 

TxP_R (www.txpresearch.wordpress.com) was founded in order to exploit and disseminate the results obtained thanks to the specific interdisciplinary expertise gained over many years of research in Airport Design (since 2008) within the Department and - most recently - between the Departments of Architecture and Engineering and international level universities. TxP_R works for studies and research projects, knowledge transfer and innovation, both at national and international level.

The Research Unit allows to strengthen their specific expertise and interdisciplinary methodologies, accrued tools and to disseminate the results of research towards, the institutions, airport owners and designers.

TxP_R has carries out research on behalf of institutions and central state governments and large Airport Design companies; hosts internships for doctoral research, dissertations and professional activity; works as a consultant for airport operators and designers also offering opportunities for internships and industry placements for recent graduates and graduate students. The TxP_Research Unit strengths the action and visibility of the Department in the Airport Design field, with clear benefits for the University of Florence.

Raccolta di casi benchmark internazionali per la valutazione dei progetti aeroportuali a fronte degli standard più recenti del settore. Lo studio mette inoltre a disposizione uno strumento di valutazione automatizzato basato sui dati dei casi benchmark offrendo varie possibilità di rendicontazione con un notevole livello di dettaglio dei processi aeroportuali.

FAR - Flexibility in Airport Architecture Design

The uncertainty of forecasts calls for flexibility in Airport Architecture and it has an impact on Life Cycle Costing. The research attempt to use more advanced international methods to face it.


ADE - Airport Design Experience

2015 - ongoing
The user centered design application to complex terminal buildings is the research focus.

La valutazione dei costi nel ciclo di vita consente di mettere a confronto più soluzioni, dando informazioni a chi deve effettuare delle scelte. Il metodo LCC garantisce di avere uno sguardo complessivo sulla sostenibilità dell’opera, in quanto ad un minor costo sul ciclo di vita corrisponde anche un minor costo ambientale. In Europa si adottano procedure di calcolo con riferimenti comuni ed il green-procurement viene associato alla valutazione LCC. A livello nazionale il TxP_R sta promuovendo metodi e strumenti LCC per il green-procurement.

BASIC – Benchmark of Architectural Solutions for the Italian Core-network

Analysis of the architectural solutions for airport terminals for the Core - Italian network for the identification of lacks and definition of improvements needs.


DEBUT - Design for a Business-driven Terminal

2013 - 2015
Tools for managing the airport project in the life cycle. The research focuses on the application possibilities of LCC analysis in the airport sector in a scenario of continued growth of global flows.


GRADE - Green Airport Design Evaluation. Terminal Design collaborative tools and methodologies

Instruments for assessing levels of compliance with environmental requirements in the preliminary stages of the project .


 

 

TxP_R Objectives

  • Use and dissemination of research results among the recipients of the Civil Aviation Sector;
  • Audits and verifications for evaluating the performance of airport development projects;
  • Direct and indirect studies and research on specific aspects of airport design;
  • Development of innovative project solutions in relation to the international state of art;
  • Offering graduating and post-grad internship opportunities and professional training.
