The Department of Architecture’s teaching and research activities are spread across several sites, mainly located in the historic centre, almost forming a unique ‘urban campus’ within what was once the outermost ring of the medieval walls.
This allows students and lecturers to walk through the historic centre, seeing, experiencing and, above all, living alongside the palaces and monuments, engaging with one of the world’s most distinguished artistic and architectural settings, on their way to the Administration, the School’s Dean’s Office, the lecturers’ offices and the lecture theatres for the Architecture and Landscape Architecture courses.
The same applies to the Prato (PIN) campus, where the urban planning courses are held.
The Campus Design in Calenzano features not only historic but also contemporary spaces, housing the lecture theatres for design teaching, the workshops and the staff rooms for the Industrial Design programme.
